Delete your sureCova account

How to ask for your sureCova account and its data to be deleted, what happens when you do, and which records we are required to keep afterwards.

Last updated: 7 September 2026

Introduction

This page explains how to request deletion of your sureCova account and the personal data held with it. It applies to the sureCova mobile application and to sureCova accounts created on this website.

Two things happen when you ask, and they happen on different timescales. Your access ends immediately. Erasure of your personal details is reviewed against the record-keeping duties that apply to medical care, because some clinical records must be kept by law even after an account is closed. Both steps are described below.

1. Deleting your account from the app

If you can still sign in, this is the fastest route and it takes effect at once.

  • Open the sureCova app and sign in.
  • Go to Settings, then Account.
  • Tap Delete account.
  • Read what happens next, type DELETE to confirm, then tap Delete my account.

2. If you cannot sign in

If you have uninstalled the app, lost your phone, or no longer use the number on the account, email privacy@surecova.com from the email address registered to the account and ask for your account to be deleted.

We will verify that the request comes from the account holder before anything is erased. This step is not a formality. A sureCova account holds medical records, and erasing one on the strength of an unverified email would put your own records at the disposal of anybody who knew your address.

We acknowledge requests within 7 days and complete the review within 30 days.

3. What happens immediately

  • Your sign-in credentials stop working and every active session is signed out.
  • Your subscriptions end and billing stops.
  • Your doctors lose access to your record.
  • If you are a doctor, your patients lose access to you and their subscriptions end.

4. What is deleted, what is kept, and for how long

When your erasure request is approved, your account is anonymised rather than erased row by row. Every identifying field is overwritten, and the clinical records stay attached to an account that no longer names anybody. What was prescribed remains answerable; who it was stops being retrievable.

DataWhat happens to it
Sign-in credentials and active sessionsDestroyed immediately when you make the request.
Name, email address, phone number, profile photo, date of birthOverwritten so the account no longer names you. Completed within 90 days.
Prescriptions, consultation notes, lab orders and resultsKept for 7 years from your last contact with a sureCova doctor, then deleted. Required by medical record-keeping rules, and kept so the doctor who wrote them can account for their clinical decisions.
Payment and subscription recordsKept for 7 years, as tax law requires. These show amounts and dates, not health information.
Record of your deletion request itselfKept after the account is anonymised, so we can show that a request was made, when, and what was done about it.

5. Why some records are kept

Prescriptions and results already issued remain with the doctors who wrote them, as their clinical records require. A doctor is required to be able to account for what they prescribed years after the fact, and deleting the record on request would remove their ability to do that.

This is a legal obligation, not a preference, and it is why deletion of a medical account is reviewed by a person rather than executed automatically. Where we cannot erase something you have asked us to erase, we will tell you which duty the refusal rests on.

6. Your other rights

You can ask for a copy of the data we hold on you at any time without closing your account. Email privacy@surecova.com and we will send an export.

sureCova does not currently offer deletion of individual items while keeping your account open. Your clinical record is a single record, and removing parts of it would leave your doctors treating you from an incomplete history.
